Mona Lisa Smile

2. Unorthodox- not conforming to rules, traditions, or modes of conduct, as of a doctrine, religion, or philosophy. One example from the movie is when Ms.Watson didn't teach the class according to the syllabus. She wanted the students to think outside the box and teach different art.By her not following the rules and traditions of the school got her into trouble.
5. I think Betty was happy to be with Spencer at first but as their marriage went on she wasn't too happy. Spencer always had to leave for work or had a random business trip. The women role back then was to be a housewife basically and follow her husbands rules. Her mother refused to let her daughter stay with her because it was a woman's job to be with her husband and not to get a divorce. When Betty saw Spencer with another female she was devastated. By that time, she didn't care what her mother had to say and decided to get a divorce and to finally be happy.

  1. I see how Katherine has her own way of teaching. Since she loves to teach that way and the school did not accept it, she decided to leave and that was a good choice. She also taught the girls to be themselves.

  2. I agree that Betty was being forced to be with Spencer because she wasn't happy with him and he didn't even want her.

  3. betty was forced into her marriage by her mom. She also rushed into the marrige because she wanted to hurry and become the typical 1950s women. Then her marrige was unstable because she married someone she didnt really know.

  4. You were right she was sort of forced into her marriage but only because of her mom. She didn't like that fact that he cheated on her and she was trying to explain that to her mom but she didn't want her filing for divorce but Betty knew what was right for her.
